It was a very good year… if the Beaujolais vintage report 2018 from our suppliers, the Perrachon family in Juliénas, is anything to go by. We've just received the good news from Maxime Perrachon and I'm posting the whole thing below.
Taste Beaujolais
We like our Beaujolais crus at Bubble Brothers, so the energetic support of the region's trade missionaries is welcome because it keeps us up to date and involved in the promotion of these appealing, approachable wines.
It was an absolute treat to attend Jamie Goode's #GoGamayGo tasting ‘The Diversity of Beaujolais’ earlier this year at Cork's River Lee Hotel and try out a range of wines from the region that showed just how varied Gamay can be.
Extensive soil analysis in recent years is going to allow even greater fine tuning of what to grow where, and the future is bright for the current generations of winemakers with their eye on a global market. There are still plenty of red wine lovers who haven't tried a serious bottle of good Beaujolais instead of their old reliables, maybe because of the frivolous associations of Beaujolais Nouveau. Sooner or later, it's got to be time for a change.

…colors are dense, with dark purple fuchsia hues. The wines radiate aromas of fleshy black fruit and flowers (peony, lilac), as well as…spice and licorice. On the palate, the wine combines depth, complexity, elegance and gourmandise
New arrivals
While we anticipate with some eagerness those delicious-sounding 2018s, similarly and even more immediately exciting is the imminent arrival of our latest consignment of 2016s and 2017s from the Perrachons. Our next delivery is sailing right now and due to arrive in Ireland very soon, specifically early next week. The pallet has on it the wines of Juliénas Chénas, Fleurie (including, for the first time, 37.5cl half-bottles), Moulin à Vent, Saint-Amour and Morgon—and, what's more, some of the estate's very lovely blanc de blancs Crémant de Bourgogne.
