Château d'Esclans, Whispering Angel Côtes de Provence AOP RoséRegular price €27.00
Can't get to your yacht in the Côte d'Azur this year? Never mind—close your eyes and have a sip of Whispering Angel.
“You could drink it from mid-day to midnight”
“More palate grabbing by far than the Provencal Pink norm”
“It’s hard to find fault with this sensational rosé”
Despite the creepy name, Whispering Angel is one of the most requested wines in our English Market shop, and we are delighted to add it now to our list of prestige Provençal rosés alongside the organic Cascavel and Brangelina's Château Miraval.
In fact, it's so much in demand that for the time being we have to limit purchases to two bottles per customer, in the interests of fairness and because our allocation of this wine is so small, and availability so unpredictable.
There's no question that it's a creamy, precise, full-flavoured example of an enormously popular style of wine, with a string of endorsements from wine critics. Why not splash out and do a little light criticizing yourself?

‘…plenty of weight to match its colorful character. The raspberry fruit and bright acidity all go well together in this ripe, harmonious wine.’90/100 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Best Buys 2018
From an estate consistently applauded for its rosés, this is a simply delicious example of the Provençal style. Its inviting strawberry aromas are laced with suggestions of bergamot and roses, and the full, poised texture in the mouth is packed with ripe redcurrant fruit and fresh acidity.
There is more than enough substance in this lovely rosé to make it a match for all kinds of meals—its juicy energy and racy finish would perfectly suit a salade niçoise but could step up with aplomb to the rich intensity of a ratatouille or even simply treated game.
‘…floral aromas mixed with bright strawberry fruits, more strawberry on the palate, a pleasing texture with a bit of heft, with a citrus tinged finish.’
