Austrian red wines are not well known in Ireland, but the selection available here has increased because of the growing popularity of the country's chief white wine export, Grüner Veltliner.
The generally light, precise and very food-friendly red wines made from Zweigelt and St Laurent (amongst other grape varieties) are easy to like and extremely versatile.
