Domaine de Chevalier Blanc Pessac-Léognan 2008
Regular price €125.00This is definitely in the fine wine category: it's full-bodied, powerful, and concentrated on the palate, with a lingering, mineral aftertaste. There's plenty of fresh acidity still as a counterpoint to its richness
‘As strange as it may seem, I like to say that I produce vins de table. By that, I mean that a great wine like Chevalier really shows its best at table. It shines when a subtle balance is achieved with suitable food. I would also add that Chevalier is better still when enjoyed among friends in the right setting…’
Olivier Bernard, Domaine de Chevalier
‘These wines start to levitate with some bottle age, and this has a gorgeous grip that showcases the beauty of Chevalier with a few years under its belt. The mouthwatering character is clear, even with the waxy lemon-zest edging that suggests it’s sliding towards its tertiary phase. A citrus twist through the mid-palate keeps things concentrated.
Drinking Window 2018 – 2028’
94/100 Jane Anson (at Villa le Bec, Shanghai, 16 Nov 2018)
‘the 2008 dry white wines of Bordeaux…do not possess the flesh, power, or richness of the 2006 and 2007, but they reveal precise, intensely aromatic personalities, lighter bodies, and more noticeable acidity. These remain among the world’s most underrated world-class dry white wines’
90–92/100, Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #182, April 2009
‘Tasted ex-chateau and single blind in Southwold. The Domaine de Chevalier Blanc 2008 has an attractive, almost Burgundy-like nose with fine delineation and freshness : touches of beeswax and pressed white flowers. I like the subtle nature of this wine. The palate is well balanced with a citrus, grassy entry, good tension and more intensity than the previous wines in the flight. There is an attractive lime zest note on the finish. Superb. Tasted January 2012.’
91–93/100, Neal Martin’s Wine Journal, May 2012

One of the effects of COVID-19 is increased business for online businesses and courier companies, and this has led to delays despite everyone's best efforts.
PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME: UP TO FIVE WORKING DAYS for deliveries, though many arrive sooner than this.
We recommend that, for instance, you order as early as possible in the week if you are choosing wine for the weekend.
Any delays are likely to be more significant in more densely populated areas of the country.
Orders of €150+: free delivery nationwide
All other orders: €15 nationwide flat rate
(please NB delivery of 'offline' orders, those placed by telephone or personal visit, is also charged at €15 for purchases of less than €150, and is free of charge for purchases of €150 or more)
Orders received by midday Monday to Thursday are dispatched that day or the next day.
Orders received by noon on a Friday are dispatched that day or on the following Monday.
Our online orders are delivered by courier to ensure fast and reliable delivery of each carefully packaged consignment. Because nobody likes breakages, we use very strong and secure packaging specially designed to protect wine bottles.
Personalised champagne orders are dispatched to meet your requested deadline, or otherwise as soon as possible. Please allow at least one extra working day for these orders to be prepared.
The ideal delivery address has someone available to sign for parcels during office hours. This may mean that a work address is a better choice than a home address, as each delivery of our lovely wine needs to be signed for. An Eircode eliminates any doubt about the delivery location, and you can find or check Eircodes here.
Our couriers do their best to deliver and often have amazing local knowledge, but in the event of difficulties a reliable telephone number for the recipient makes all the difference and is a required piece of information. A mobile number is usually best.
When we dispatch your order, we send on a tracking code so that you can follow your order in transit on the courier's website.
If you need delivery to Northern Ireland, please get in touch for availability and rates. Unfortunately, we do not send wine overseas because of the complicated bureaucratic requirements and very high cost.
Wine is a natural product: its variety is what makes it so interesting!
Sometimes, though, a faulty bottle turns up. It's rare, but it does happen.
We want you to enjoy the wines you buy from us, and we'd like you to enjoy doing business with us too.
If you are unlucky enough to receive a bad bottle, please let us know immediately by calling the office on 021 431 6000 and we'll issue a credit in compensation.
Despite our best efforts to wrap and pack securely, damage in transit occurs from time to time.
If there's a breakage, our couriers will normally return the whole fragrant mess to us straight away.
If, however, the damage isn't apparent until you open the box, we'd still prefer to have the whole parcel collected. We'll send you a replacement as soon as possible.
