Spectacular Spanish Soirée at Les Gourmandises
Following the success of the dinner to show the wines from Château de Beaucastel, the next meal event in the series will take us to Spain's Ribera del Duero. Bubble Brothers in conjunction with Les Gourmandises restaurant will host a fabulous dinner to show the wines of Bodegas Pingón on 18th May at 7.30.
Les Gourmandises was recently awarded the 'Best Restaurant in Cork' (City and County) by the Irish Restauranters Association.
The Ribera del Duero is probably the most exciting area of Spain from a wine perspective. There are many similarities between Rioja and Ribera del Duero. While the wines are quite distinctive as a result of significant differences in terroir, both regions produce wines selected for long aging with highly complex vinification procedures, producing intense, extremely long-lived wines. Wines are classified as much for their longevity as their grape quality, and Ribera del Duero produces some extremely fine wines capable of aging for many years.
Bodegas Pingón is one of the best producers in the Ribera del Duero consistently producing award winning wines as well as being highly recommended by Robert Parker.
We are lucky to have Enrique Garcia of Bodegas Pingón to introduce and talk us through the wines. This is a fantastic opportunity not only to sample some fabulous wines but also to taste the excellent food prepared by Pat Kiely of Les Gourmandises. Tickets are limited and available on a first come basis of €75 per person from Les Gourmandises at (021) 4251 959. The evening begins with a Cava reception to be followed by a four course meal with wines (white, red and dessert) especialy chosen to accompany each dish. To get the taste buds tingling see the blog entry of 15th April and get an idea of what our last wine dinner evening was like.
