An outstanding Italian white wins the highest accolade from Gambero Rosso's Italian Wine Guide 2025
One of the wines new to us from the all-organic range of Mary Pawle Wines is the lovely dry white you see below—Bialento, from Cantine Amastuola in the heart of Puglia, southern Italy.
This unoaked, crisp but textured wine has just achieved three 'glasses' from Gambero Rosso's Italian Wine Guide. It's the equivalent of five stars or 90+ points—the highest award the publication grants—and reserved for wines that stand out for excellent quality, complexity, elegance and regional authenticity.
This is a very impressive dry white wine from Cantine Amastuola in southern Italy.
It's fresh and very polished, with delicately floral, invitingly mellow aromas in an organic blend of Malvasia and Fiano grapes. The flavour profile is as elegant as the nose, with smooth citrus briskness and hints of pear in a firm, juicy wine. The citrus finish is dry and gently herbal, with a subtle floral note rounding off each sip.
