Domaine Saint-Antoine des Echards Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er cru rouge ‘Les Peuillets’Regular price €39.00
This is a beautifully poised red Burgundy, with attractive aromas of red and dark fruits and some hints of the spicy, earthy notes to be revealed on the palate.
The typical Savigny softness is expressed in rich, appetizingly bright cherry flavours, and the ample fruit comes wrapped in silky tannins. A long, deep finish makes this a terrific choice for roast game, fillet of beef or creamy cheeses like Brie, Tomme or Burgundy's own Epoisses.
In an interview with chassons.com in 2018, Pierre-Antoine Guérin and Manon Rousseau offered the following recommendations to readers:
‘Let's look a little further into this: since your estate lies in the heart of the Côte de Beaune, which game or meat dishes would you recommend with your Maranges, Santenay or Savigny-lès-Beaune wines?’
‘Our red Santenay ‘Les Bras’ would be perfect with boar, and venison fillet, doe fillet, has been tried and approved with our Maranges 1er cru ‘Cru des Loyères’. It's a wonderful pairing.
Lastly, our Savigny-lès-Beaune 1er cru ‘Les Peuillets’ would bring out the best in a roast mallard with pepper sauce.’
