Château Phélan-Ségur, St Estèphe 2011Regular price €65.00
From the estate founded by the Phelan family at the beginning of the nineteenth century comes a densely concentrated glassful, with bright berry aromas leading to a complex concentration of fresh and dried fruits with secondary notes of cedar, tobacco and savoury herbs and olives. Big tannins give both breadth of flavour and a long, fine-grained finish to this substantial, mineral vintage, which will continue to give pleasure until the early 2020s at least.
‘Another sleeper of the vintage, this excellent effort from the Gardinier family reveals a dense ruby/purple color along with a sweet perfume of mulberries, black cherries and black currants. An absence of herbaceousness gives the wine an attractive plump, fruit-driven mouthfeel with earth, light tannin and structure. Enjoy this excellent 2011 over the next 7-8 years’
