Château Haut Pauillac, AOC Pauillac 2010

Château Haut Pauillac, AOC Pauillac 2010

Regular price €39.00

This is a blackcurrant, cigar box and graphite-scented gem from the generally excellent 2010 vintage. Rich, supple fruit, silky tannins and huge length.

There's a concentrated, inviting nose of crème de cassis, blueberries and cedar follows through to a mid-weight, fine-tannined palate of briar fruit, forest floor, incense and coffee. Plush, opulent and ultra-refined. This is a big Bordeaux that's ready to drink, perhaps with rosemary and garlic roast lamb.

Pauillac is a red wine appellation in Bordeaux, located between Saint-Estèphe and Saint-Julien on the ‘left bank’ of the Gironde.

The stellar reputation of its wines is founded not only on their current quality, but on their historical success. The (in)famous 1855 Classification of the Médoc ranked the best chateaux of the area according to the average prices commanded by their wines at the time, and two of the top five (Chateaux Latour and Lafite-Rothschild) were in Pauillac; these were joined by Chateau Mouton-Rothschild in 1973.

The soils of Pauillac are largely made up of free-draining gravel, which is perfect for growing Cabernet Sauvignon. These soils, when combined with the temperate Bordeaux climate, are the starting point for Pauillac's top-class wines.

While Cabernet Sauvignon is the dominant grape, Cabernet Franc, Merlot , Carmenere, Petit Verdot and Malbec are also allowed.

One of the effects of COVID-19 is increased business for online businesses and courier companies, and this has led to delays despite everyone's best efforts.

PLEASE ALLOW EXTRA TIME: UP TO FIVE WORKING DAYS for deliveries, though many arrive sooner than this.

We recommend that, for instance, you order as early as possible in the week if you are choosing wine for the weekend.

Any delays are likely to be more significant in more densely populated areas of the country.

Online orders

Our online orders are delivered by courier to ensure fast and reliable delivery of each carefully packaged consignment. Because nobody likes breakages, we use very strong and secure packaging specially designed to protect wine bottles.

Personalised champagne orders are dispatched to meet your requested deadline, or otherwise as soon as possible. Please allow at least one extra working day for these orders to be prepared.

Eircodes please

The ideal delivery address has someone available to sign for parcels during office hours. This may mean that a work address is a better choice than a home address, as each delivery of our lovely wine needs to be signed for. An Eircode eliminates any doubt about the delivery location, and you can find or check Eircodes here.

Phone numbers please

Our couriers do their best to deliver and often have amazing local knowledge, but in the event of difficulties a reliable telephone number for the recipient makes all the difference and is a required piece of information. A mobile number is usually best.

Track your order

When we dispatch your order, we send on a tracking code so that you can follow your order in transit on the courier's website.

Delivery outside Ireland

If you need delivery to Northern Ireland, please get in touch for availability and rates. Unfortunately, we do not send wine overseas because of the complicated bureaucratic requirements and very high cost.

Faulty bottles

Wine is a natural product: its variety is what makes it so interesting!

Sometimes, though, a faulty bottle turns up. It's rare, but it does happen.

We want you to enjoy the wines you buy from us, and we'd like you to enjoy doing business with us too.

If you are unlucky enough to receive a bad bottle, please let us know immediately by calling the office on 021 431 6000 and we'll issue a credit in compensation.

Broken or Damaged Deliveries

Despite our best efforts to wrap and pack securely, damage in transit occurs from time to time.

If there's a breakage, our couriers will normally return the whole fragrant mess to us straight away.

If, however, the damage isn't apparent until you open the box, we'd still prefer to have the whole parcel collected. We'll send you a replacement as soon as possible.
