Château Cap de FaugèresRegular price €28.00
This full and distinctive red from the Côtes de Castillon, now Castillon – Côtes de Bordeaux, is dominated by ripe lush dark fruits like blackberry, black cherry and plum.
There are smooth, enticing chocolatey overtones too, with bramble and blackcurrant leaf, even minty, notes. Closer inspection reveals hints of red plum, strawberry and black pepper, with cedar and vanilla from the oak aging.
Expect to find full body, medium-plus ripe tannins and medium-plus acidity with a long length. This is a tremendous example of the quality that can be found outside the famous appellations, and at the price it's a rival for much more expensive bottles. It's ready to drink with any meat dish, and a great excuse to splash out on a special cut or tackle a classic recipe from the French repertoire.
‘Refined and very pretty with blue fruit and dried berry. Full and tight. Cool fruit.’
