Further Details

This is a fine, ripe, velvety Malbec with smooth dark fruit character and a long finish. It's tasty on its own, but really makes an impact alongside rich meat dishes or savoury Mediterranean fare.

All the La Puerta Alta wines are estate grown and bottled, and made from hand-picked grapes that are carefully managed to provide optimum ripeness.

Valle de la Puerta was established in 1994, and now has 150 hectares under vine plus 770 hectares with olive trees.

Located in the Famatina Valley approximately 750 miles north west of Buenos Aires by road, the property sits between the Famatina and Velasco mountain ranges, which branch off the Andes.

This unique valley offers a magnificent visual backdrop and provides well-drained topsoil. A special microclimate, with hot and dry summer days and cool nights, combines with the clean air and desert-like topography of the valley to ensure outstanding ripening conditions for grapes and olives. Rain is scarce, with only four to eight inches per year, and for this reason irrigation water is drawn up from deep wells.

The winery was built in 2002, and is one of the most modern and technologically advanced wineries of its type in Argentina.
