Goedverwacht Great Expectations Sauvignon Blanc, Robertson Valley

Quick Overview

A pure joy, with the lively citrus acidity of a cool-climate Sauvignon, but with tropical hints of passion fruit and kiwi that will endear it to Loire Valley and Marlborough fans alike. It’s dry but fruity and very smooth, with a grassy freshness all its own. An outstanding white wine and terrific value.

Further Details

Super-aromatic Sauvignon with lovely bright notes of lemongrass, passionfruit and citrus. Light to medium bodied, it has zingy acidity and intense, clean, screwcap-lively fruit flavours. It's a juicy, surprisingly sophisticated delight on its own and makes the perfect choice as an aperitif or with finger food.
This has to be a strong recommendation, too, for a wedding wine, where its generous and immediate appeal will go a long way to pleasing all the people pretty much all of the time.
Robertson is a warm, dry district in the Breede River Valley region of South Africa that produces 15% of the country's wine each year. With rainfall of just 400mm, irrigation here is essential, but Goedverwacht winemaker Jan du Toit puts quality before quantity—the proof is in the tasting.
