Blackpool Farmers' Market - official launch 7th December

I've been asked to make you aware of this. I love Blackpool SC about as much as I love Mahon Point SC; but, as I've said before, if the malls provide an opportunity for the good stuff to be made available to as many people as possible, they may be candidates for promotion from 'evil' to 'necessary evil'. Which isn't to say there aren't rogues and shysters among the artisan, hand-crafted, cold-smoked fraternity too, of course.

*Official Launch Of Blackpool Farmers' Market, Cork's First Evening Food
Market*

Blackpool Farmers' Market opened for business last Friday afternoon at 2pm. 23 local artisan food producers set up their stalls and food trailers, plugged in their lights and began trading immediately.

Word was out thanks to the help of Neil Prenderville and the 96FM Street Fleet that there was good food and entertainment going on in Blackpool Shopping Centre. Families were coming by on their way home on the school run. Others were driving past and heard it on the radio.

Once the sun went down the market took on a whole new look. Every stall had all their fresh produce lit up, steam was coming off the soup and hot chocolate stalls and everything looked great. The musicians came on stage, and a buzz formed around the different stalls, especially the hot food stalls and hot drinks as the temperature reached the minuses (record low!).

December the 7th is our official launch day. We would like to invite you to come join us, have a few drinks al fresco and enjoy the official opening of the market. All the stall holders are making €1 or €2 sample menus, similar to the 'Taste of Dublin' tasting menus to encourage people to be adventurous and try out different things.

You can look forward to plenty of entertainment: choral singers, face painting, musicians and of course the arrival of Santa.
