Some encouraging news from Alessandro Speri, the prodigal son:
Press Release Prodigo Malbec Classic ‘05 wins the gold medal at Wine Style Asia wine competition 2008 in Singapore. Singapore, the 20th of October, 2008: Alessandro Speri winery receives a gold and a silver medal at Wine Style Asia wine competition 2008 for his wines Prodigo Classic malbec 2005 (best argentine malbec) and Prodigo Tempranillo 2006. The prizes were given in the occasion of Wine for Asia 2008 in Singapore. Alessandro Speri belongs to a well known fifth generation of Italian wine grower and winemaking family (producer of a celebrated Amarone della Valpolicella). In 2002 Alessandro decided to break with his family tradition and undertake the challenge of producing quality wine in Mendoza, at the feet of the Argentinean Andes. Thus was born the idea of calling his wine Prodigo, to recall this challenge to paternal tradition. Prodigo is produced with Malbec grapes grown at 3,250 feet high, under the technical direction of the Tuscan winemaker Attiglio Pagli. Alessandro Speri winery is selling Prodigo wines in thirteen countries worldwide.
